Removing Gamma Productions UniType 1.x
Global Writer or Global Office is not compatible with products from Gamma Productions. Additionally, if any Gamma UniType 1.x language package (International, Volume II, World, ABS, or Korean) is currently installed on your system, it must be removed before Global Writer or Global Office can be installed. Please follow the instructions below to manually uninstall.
Manually remove Gamma UniType program files
(Not recommended for new computer users. Please contact Unitype support if you have any questions; support@unitype.com or 1-512-620-0384.):
1 Edit the "run=" line in the WIN.INI file, removing "LANG.EXE" from it. The WIN.INI file is in the WINDOWS directory.
2 Delete the following UniType directories:
- \WINDOWS\UNITYPE directory.
- \WINDOWS\CNS directory
3 Delete the following files from the \WINDOWS\ directory:
- UNITYPE.*
- LANG.INI
- LANG.TXT
4 Delete the following files from the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory:
- ILI32.DLL
- UWCL32.DLL
- LANG16.CPL
- LANG.EXE
- LANGMAN.EXE.
5 Deleting Gamma UniType fonts from system:
Note Do not delete the Gamma UniType fonts if you still want to view or print documents you have created with Gamma UniType. Leaving them will not interfere with the new software.
Run Windows CONTROL PANEL / FONTS. Select all the "WL..." fonts.
(Caution: if you have fonts from other dealers that begin with "WL" then you should exercise care not to delete them.)
Choose REMOVE. Check the option for "delete font file from disk".
Click "Yes to All".
6 Restart your computer.
